When are AP Scores Released

So youre planning to take an AP Calculus exam. When will your AP scores become available? Important Dates to Remember If youre reading this, then you are probably taking AP Calculus or have just finished the course. So you are probably aware of the test dates. But just in case, well go over some important dates. AP Calculus Exam Date The AP Calculus AB and BC exam typically takes place in early May. Next years test will be on Tuesday, May 15th, 2018. Are you prepared for the test? This is not your typical high school final exam. Instead, you will have to spend many weeks or months studying and prepping. The Scoring Process All AP exams are sent to AP Services by June for scoring. A scoring machine handles the multiple choice problems. On the other hand, subject matter experts called AP readers will score the free response questions by hand. These graders are often current or retired AP Calculus teachers or college mathematics professors. As you can imagine, it takes a long time to properly evaluate your work in the free response section. This is the main reason that AP scoring take almost twice as long as scoring on the SAT or ACT. You may expect to see your scores within the first two weeks of July. In addition, AP Services sends your scores to designated colleges at the same time. AP scores of 5 correspond roughly to an A in the equivalent college course, while a score of 4 corresponds to a B, and so on. Of course you should strive to score as high as possible. An AP score of 4-5 often translates directly into college credits, though some schools offer credit or equivalency for scores as low as 3.
